It's meant to be run from a web-server you connect to from your browser. So the web-server would be the "executable" in this instance. Why they chose to do things this way, I do not know.
You host the webserver software on your own machine. The method I used was a bit in-depth, using apache's webserver software, because the game wasn't coded to be run directly from the browser, for whatever reason.

I think the game needs to take guiding on the next level. It's tough to find out what you're supposed to do to progress the quest.
is there a guide anywhere, im trying to get on with the story and a few of these quest are taking quite a bit of time

I really like 2D style in 3D environment. I know it's buggy as heck but it doesn't stop the thrill.

Doubtful. No updates for it on their Patreon since like June 2023.
